Since our dog Scooby has started going to daycare he has become an all around happier dog. He gets to play and run off some energy three times a week and we get a calmer dog. The staff here is great and they really look after the dogs well.

Allie (our 8 month old lab) is always very excited to go there and is super tired when we get home. It's been a blessing for our family to have a dog we can play with, not yell at all evening! Everyone has been very nice there, too.

A Dog's Day Playhouse has stopped using Alex Brooks as a training facility. One it was too far away for people who lived in the area and two it was too expensive. They are using a local trainer, Ron Hanik. He can come when it is good for the person and the dog to be trained to come to daycare. He has done training during the afternoon and on Saturdays at 10 or at 1. Some of the daycare dogs have gotten massages on their sore joints. And then they go play. Plus he can give you help with specific problems, not just training. He has been a big help.

As a trainer my self, I would never ask my students to use a pinch collar. I believe it is the lazy way of controlling your dog. Of course the dog behaved and stopped pulling! The pinch collar is used to add PAIN to control the dog. There are better options and tools to control your dog. It is possible to have control over your dog with out using FORCE! I can't believe there are still trainers out there using old fashioned ways of training.

i also went to Alex Brooks dog training. I took my one year old boxer to the Des Plaines location and worked with Alex. My boxer was very hyper and did a lot of play biting. I used a choke coller with my dog but could never get him to stop pulling and choking himself. Alex suggested that i use the pinch coller and he used it in a very soft manner. In 1 hour i had a different dog! He understood my dog and Tyson loved him. I would highly recommend Alex for training. The pinch coller was a great tool for me and Alex taught me the correct way to use it. I correct him so much less and have a bond that i never had with my dog. Make sure you see Alex before you judge his training methods. Thank you Alex for giving my the dog i dream he could be!

I looked into training by Alex Brooks too and I was so offended; first they use pinch collars which is dominance-based dog training which is not approved by the Association of Professional Dog trainers, 2nd-their facilities are cold, not weather protected and my dogs spent a long time in a small wire kennel while at their daycare, 3rd-my dogs got an upper respiratory infection from being at the facility and the staff refused to even talk with me about it, they refused to even discuss the possibility that they were at fault. Bad place, that one.

I looked into those training classes through Alex Brooks. They are way to expensive for a basic obedience class. Plus they are not even offered at the daycare. They classes are held miles away. They should offer classes there at the daycare. That would make much more sense.

Ivy loves A Dog's Day Playhouse. She gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot, and when I pick her up she is happy and tired. Everyone there is so friendly and great with the dogs. I always feel comfortable taking her there.

Atticus loves it here, doesn't have any energy when she gets home. She is starting to act more like a dog, she is crying a little less when she doesn't get her way too.

I take my Golden Retriever here and it is so nice when I pick him up and he is asleep before I get out of the parking lot! Everyone is so great there! I know my dog is in good hands!
